Brady House Expansion
The owners of a modest ranch house on Lake Michigan wanted to expand the home to accommodate a growing number of grandchildren. Our solution was to build up–we added a second floor. This not only nearly doubled their square footage but gave the house a more attractive look befitting the lakeshore setting.
Since it was impossible to match the existing brick (and it more easily resolved budget and technical issues) we finished the exterior with simple vinyl siding. This actually gives the house a more beachfront character and visually breaks down the scale of the structure.
Working closely with the contractor, my colleague and I did design work and I produced a set of basic construction documents.
